Deposit Return Scheme Explained

The EU has mandated that recycling rates for single‑use plastic and aluminium drink containers must reach 90% by 2029, with member states using Deposit Return Schemes (DRS) to achieve this. DRS incentivises consumers to return containers for recycling through a refundable deposit.
