The Project
bp pulse embarked on a significant project to enhance its EV charging capabilities at the Marks & Spencer store in Cheshunt. This initiative involved the construction of a new ten-bay EV charging hub, featuring a mix of ultra-fast and rapid chargers. TSG UK Solutions Ltd was entrusted with managing the entire installation process.
TSG provided a comprehensive in-house turnkey project delivery solution from inception to completion. The initial feasibility survey and site report were completed, allowing all relevant information to be provided to the in-house design team. This team implemented the survey findings into both concept and detailed design, which included civil and full electrical design calculations and engineering studies, all provided for client approval.
Once client approval was received, the project progressed into the planning and permit stage. During this stage, TSG utilised its in-house capabilities to provide all necessary documentation and approvals, enabling the project to successfully move forward into the final stage: Construction. This included all civil works, bay marking, the installation of all EV chargers, a new HV substation, an LV feeder pillar and all associated connections. It also involved testing and energisation, including liaison with the Distribution Network Operator (DNO), which was undertaken by TSG’s own Independent Connection Provider (ICP).
Throughout the project, TSG demonstrated exceptional coordination and adaptability. TSG worked closely with bp pulse and other stakeholders to ensure the installation adhered to all specifications and was completed efficiently. Despite the busy location, TSG managed to minimise disruption to the store’s operations, ensuring a smooth and safe installation process.
The Results
The project was completed and the new EV hub was opened to the public, providing a convenient charging solution for customers while they shop. bp pulse was extremely pleased with the result and timely delivery, praising TSG’s ability to deliver high-quality work in a challenging environment.
The introduction of this new hub, together with the planned expansion to additional M&S locations showcases bp pulse’s strategy of providing high-speed, on-the-go charging solutions at convenient and strategic sites for its customers.
