The first A2A Power Hub, an electric mobility ecosystem integrating high-power charging, renewable energy, and advanced technologies, was inaugurated in Monza, Italy. TSG acted as the technological and construction EPC partner, providing integrated expertise ranging from electrical and civil design to the construction of the charging infrastructure.
Suitable for rapid charging and longer-term stops
The A2A Power Hub was designed to meet the diverse charging needs of electric vehicle drivers. The hub is equipped with five 300 kW ultrafast charging stations and one 14 kW City Plug station, for a total of twelve charging points, capable of supporting both rapid charging and longer-term stops.
At the heart of the Hub is an advanced Energy Management System, ensuring efficient management of the various energy sources. The system integrates an 11 kWp photovoltaic system for self-generation from renewable sources, a 100 kWh storage infrastructure consisting of two Pixii BESS systems, and the electricity grid, optimizing energy use and ensuring the charging stations are powered with 100% green energy, with tangible benefits in terms of efficiency and operating costs.
Complete electrical architecture and urban redevelopment
The site’s electrical architecture includes a 1,250 kVA transformer substation built by CD Elettrica, a TSG Group company, and a 2,500 A Power Center switchboard, which enables the integrated management of self-generation from renewable sources, storage systems, hyperchargers, and auxiliary utilities for lighting, irrigation, and ancillary systems.
The A2A Power Hub also includes a major urban redevelopment project, including stripping of pavement, new permeable paving, and the creation of green spaces designed to help reduce urban heat islands. The roof canopy integrates a rainwater recovery system, which is reused to irrigate the green spaces, providing the city with a regenerated, functional, and sustainable space.
With this new project, A2A and TSG are strengthening their collaboration.
