WattHub Rotterdam is the fast-charging plaza for heavy construction equipment and transport on the Maasvlakte. With 30 fast-charging points with DC fast-charging points up to 400 kW and AC Powerlock fast-charging points up to 250 kW, this state-of-the-art plaza offers exactly the speed and capacity that the sector needs. The strategically located charging plaza runs largely on sustainable energy and is available 24/7, ensuring that charging is not only fast, but also green and reliable. TSG Netherlands was responsible for the entire Design & Build process for the WattHub Rotterdam charging plaza. Our in-house Design & Build department took care of all technical designs, engineering, and implementation plans for this location.
In addition, we supplied, placed, and installed all charging points, including the complete electrical infrastructure and integration on site. This integrated approach enabled the charging plaza to be realized efficiently and future-proof, fully tailored to the intensive use by electric trucks and heavy equipment in the port of Rotterdam.
The close collaboration between engineering, implementation, and the client resulted in a reliable installation with high availability, suitable for 24/7 use in a demanding logistics environment.
Results and Impact.
The realization of WattHub Rotterdam has resulted in a robust and future-proof fast-charging plaza for electric heavy transport and construction equipment on the Maasvlakte. The project contributes directly to making the port of Rotterdam more sustainable by facilitating emission-free working and reducing CO₂ emissions and local air pollution. We integrated the design, implementation, and installation proceeded efficiently, resulting in a reliable installation. WattHub Rotterdam thus serves as a scalable example for future charging stations for heavy electric transport.
