To address this gap, WattHub XL was developed in Geldermalsen — the world’s largest fast-charging hub for heavy vehicles. Strategically located between Rotterdam and Germany’s main transport corridors, the project aims to accelerate the energy transition in logistics and construction. TSG Nederland was selected as the turnkey technical partner responsible for the design, supply, and installation of the complete charging infrastructure in collaboration with Kempower.
WattHub Geldermalsen – World’s Largest Fast-Charging Hub.
Project overview.
The solution delivered by TSG.
TSG provided a full end-to-end solution for the WattHub, covering design, electrical engineering, installation, commissioning, and maintenance. The project includes 36 Kempower Satellite chargers powered by six 600 kW transformers, offering a total charging capacity of 3.6 MW. Chargers are organized in groups of six, each capable of delivering between 25 kW and 400 kW to electric trucks and heavy-duty equipment.
All energy supplied is sourced from wind and solar, ensuring fully sustainable operation.
TSG also implemented Kempower’s ChargEye Depot Master software, which allows dynamic load management, real-time monitoring, and optimized power distribution across the site.
The project was executed in close partnership with Kempower and local stakeholders, ensuring seamless integration and future scalability.
Results and Impact.
WattHub is now a pioneering model for sustainable heavy-vehicle charging worldwide. It significantly reduces CO₂ emissions in transport and construction, supports zero-emission operations for major Dutch infrastructure projects, and demonstrates how renewable energy can power high-capacity charging networks.
The successful collaboration between TSG and Kempower highlights TSG’s expertise in delivering complex, high-power charging installations. The hub was officially inaugurated by King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands, underlining its national importance for the green transition.
Manager Operations TSG Charge Almere "The construction of the first WattHub location is a remarkable achievement that we completed together with Kempower. We are very proud to use our decades of experience in (E-)mobility to contribute to zero-emission construction projects and the charging of heavy machinery."
