Project overview.

bp pulse embarked on a strategic initiative to enhance its EV charging infrastructure at the Pinkham Way SF Connect site. The project involved installing a new canopy for an 8-bay charge point area and adding ‘Pulse’ branding to the existing mid-sign. TSG, as the incumbent signage provider for bp pulse, was tasked with the installation and branding elements.

A collaborative four-day meeting in Madrid brought together TSG, the canopy manufacturer and bp representatives to finalise the design. The canopy, built by bp’s preferred Spanish supplier, was originally specified for 10 bays, the project was revised to an 8-bay configuration and required resizing.

The solution delivered by TSG.

We demonstrated exceptional flexibility by transporting the relevant sections of the pre-delivered modular canopy to build it on site to the revised size specifications. The principal contractor ensured the EV area was cordoned off, maintaining safety for staff, customers and contractors. Despite the busy site, our efficient coordination and execution ensured minimal disruption.

Additionally, the canopy height was raised by 50 mm to provide more clearance over the chargers, with TSG designing and manufacturing covers to ensure seamless integration of the new height.

The project was completed on schedule, with the site reopening on December 20, 2024. bp was delighted with the results, praising our ability to adapt and deliver in a challenging environment.

Results and Impact.

The project reached a successful conclusion, with bp pulse expressing great satisfaction with our methods, timely delivery and the final outcomes. Our teams’ flexibility and adaptability were key in navigating the challenges and adjustments encountered during the project.

bp’s Construction Projects and Integration Engineer, Arshad Rawat, commented:

I would like to say thank you to TSG. It has been a long and challenging year, with a lot of ups and downs, however, TSG has always delivered great service. My appreciation goes to the team on site for the great work, they truly go the extra mile. Cromwell signage is fantastic, and all the canopies installed are beautiful – thank you.

"TSG never let us down and always delivers. 2025 is a big year for bp and we look forward to sharing that journey with TSG."
