Project overview.

The Hwest Hotel Hall required a unified, intelligent energy management solution to consolidate its existing systems and meet strict public funding requirements. The project aimed to connect data from multiple manufacturers and protocols, ensure full visibility across thermal and electrical systems, and enable automated, high-frequency data exports.

Beyond securing funding, the objective was to support the hotel’s long-term sustainability strategy by optimising energy usage, increasing self-consumption, and generating reliable data for operational insights and environmental certification. TSG Austria delivered this project using the energy management solution (EMS), TSG Protect.

The solution delivered by TSG.

We implemented a holistic energy management solution based on TSG Protect, following a comprehensive analysis of the entire building. The solution unified all systems within the property, including the hotel, office spaces, an on-site supermarket, a photovoltaic installation with 100 kWp peak capacity, and multiple AC and DC charging stations.

Using our energy management system, all measurement points were integrated in a manufacturer-neutral manner via BACnet and Modbus TCP/IP, enabling seamless consolidation of previously isolated systems and full interoperability across technologies.

A key project requirement was the automated daily export of more than 108 data points per minute, equivalent to 155,520 data points per day. TSG Protect fully automated this process, ensuring compliance with funding authority requirements while providing a reliable data basis for long-term analysis.

Through continuous monitoring, machine learning and predictive analytics, the system supports energy optimisation, delivers actionable insights, and enables remote support by identifying potential component failures at an early stage.

Results and Impact.

With the implementation of TSG Protect, the Hwest Hotel Hall successfully secured public funding in the six-figure range, safeguarding a critical element of its sustainability and efficiency strategy. The automated data exports not only fulfilled funding requirements but also formed the basis for ESG reporting, reinforcing the hotel’s commitment to responsible and transparent operations.

The long-term monitoring and machine learning capabilities provide the hotel with precise recommendations to reduce operating costs through improved energy efficiency. Predictive analytics enable proactive maintenance planning, helping to avoid unnecessary on-site visits and lowering operational costs over time.

By unifying all systems into a single, intelligent platform, the project transformed energy management from a technical constraint into a strategic asset, supporting both sustainability goals and business performance.

"TSG Protect has not only made us more sustainable through smart solutions and machine learning but has also enabled continuous optimisation. The results are so convincing that we are now looking to holistically review, analyse and optimise additional properties."
