TSG Switzerland SA recently installed 14 fast-charging stations (charging points) at EUROBUS in Bassersdorf. With this project, they are contributing to promoting electric mobility in public transport.
The powerful ABB HVC 300 charging stations enable fast and reliable charging of the electric buses, which is an important step towards sustainable mobility in the Zurich region.
EUROBUS – Tradition meets future
EUROBUS is a long-established Swiss company based in Windisch (AG). Since 1909, EUROBUS has been transporting people to their destinations safely, comfortably and reliably. With over 300 vehicles, the company is now the largest private bus company in Switzerland. Whether for group tours, event shuttles or scheduled public transport operations, EUROBUS offers comprehensive mobility solutions from a single source.
In April 2025, EUROBUS was one of the first Swiss companies to successfully test the all-electric Mercedes-Benz eIntouro on the Zurich–Europa-Park route. Fourteen electric buses are now in daily operation for Verkehrsbetriebe Glattal AG in the greater Zurich area. Six of these charge their batteries at the company’s own charging center in Bassersdorf, while the remaining eight use the installed line charger on their route.
High-performance charging infrastructure for EUROBUS in Bassersdorf
As part of the EUROBUS project, TSG Switzerland completed the complete assembly, installation and commissioning of seven ABB Power Units and Control Units within just two weeks. These high-performance charging stations enable the simultaneous charging of up to 14 electric buses, a significant step towards efficient and sustainable electromobility in public transport.
However, the expansion of the charging infrastructure at EUROBUS is not yet complete: the company is already planning additional charging points and the technical requirements for additional power, such as transformers, are already in place.
With this project, EUROBUS is making an active contribution to promoting sustainable mobility in Switzerland and demonstrating how e-mobility is being successfully implemented in the public bus sector.
Efficient loading and deployment management
With a detailed deployment plan, EUROBUS ensures that each electric bus is always sufficiently charged and returns in time to be recharged. Thanks to the precise load management dashboard, the status and charge level of each vehicle is displayed in real time, ensuring smooth and uninterrupted electromobility in public transport.
